It’s a well-known fact that when Labor mobilizes, things happen. Making things happen is exactly what political volunteers in the state of Nevada succeeded in doing, after Nevada lost an important part of its prevailing wage protections in 2015, along with collective bargaining rights for some of our Public Employees. However, we turned the tide in Nevada by helping elect pro-union candidates who reversed those disastrous policies, but to keep those gains, we must work to keep Nevada pro-union this midterm and prevent the return of anti-union candidates and their policies, which hurt union families. Other states and districts throughout the union’s jurisdiction are also precinct-walking and phone banking for candidates whose platforms align with our core needs: jobs, good wages, strong benefits and the right to negotiate employment agreements through the collective bargaining process.
