Apprenticeship

Operating Engineers Local 3 has training centers in California, Hawaii, Nevada and Utah and offers both entry and journey-level training for Construction Equipment Operators (CEOs), Heavy Duty Repairers (HDRs), surveyors and inspectors.

Specialty training is also offered, which includes National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators (NCCCO) practical and written exams, Class A drivers license training and classes in diversity awareness, sexual harassment, labor history, organizing and more.

Safety

All of our training focuses on being safe and productive, but certain jobs come with certain safety requirements. That’s why we offer members and apprentices certification for Hazardous Materials (Hazmat), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), forklift, oil refinery and Mine Safety Health Administration (MSHA), as well as first aid and CPR.
