2018 Politics

2018 is a big election year throughout our jurisdiction. California, Nevada and Utah hold primaries in June and Hawaii’s is in August. There will be races for Governor, U.S. Congress, state legislatures, local municipalities and in some states, ballot initiatives.

We need your help!

Following a stellar 2017 work year with hours up across the board, 2018 holds great promise. To fulfill that promise, however, we must deliver at the primary and general elections this year. These will include critical Senate races in California, Utah and Nevada, and a major movement to defend and secure transportation funding in California. No matter where you live in our jurisdiction, there will be volunteer opportunities for you and your family to keep labor strong.

In California, we will fight to protect and retain some of our legislative wins (like preventing the repeal of the $54 billion dollar transportation funding legislation known as SB1). We must continue to help elect pro-union, pro-working-family candidates.

And yes, we will need your help! Stay tuned for more information about the races and how you can get involved!

Are you registered to vote? We need you to be registered and to vote in one of the most critical elections for Labor in our history. If you are not registered to vote, it is important to begin that process now, well before the 2018 Primary Elections. The dates, deadlines and links to register for each state in our jurisdiction are below. Make your voice heard!

What we do

Local 3 works closely with other trades and organizations to research important issues and interview candidates seeking elected office. By lending our support to those individuals and policies that will properly represent our members, we ensure that our government is responsive to the needs of the people and that America’s economy is on the right track.

Why we do it

Our members are the key to turning campaign promises of economic recovery and job creation into a reality by keeping our elected officials accountable for the approval and funding of necessary projects. The right candidate today can mean the difference between the right or wrong future of America. Join us and keep the middle class strong.
