Job ActionsActions

Job actions are an important and valuable tool in support of our membership. The collective will of the membership and staff of Local 3 stand by our members. Job actions can become strikes if warranted and can cause a work stopage and mass refusal by employees to perform work that can impact a community and other business. A strike usually takes place in response to expired or expiring contracts.

Current job actions if any are listed below. Click on the link and help support the members that are fighting for their rights.

Fair Industry Strike Standards (FIST)

In Spring 2010, Local 3 rolled out the Local 3 Fair Industry Strike Training (FIST) program. According to Business Manager, Russ Burns, "In these tough economic times, with many important negotiations coming up, it is essential that we prepare to protect our jobs; major membership participation is key." The program has been a huge success and will help keep the membership educated on the do's and don't's of participation in job actions.
