Governor signs HSR Funding Bill
In a move that will surely make history, California Gov. Jerry Brown signed legislation last week, ensuring the state's High-Speed Rail project will become a reality and begin next year.
The bill, which authorizes the initial funding for High-Speed Rail and gets work started on a section of track in the Central Valley, was appropriately signed at the Transbay Transit Center construction site in downtown San Francisco, where the rail line will eventually run.
Local 3 members were on hand to view the signing and applauded Brown for his support. Not only will the legislation help fund High-Speed Rail, which will create thousands of construction jobs, but it also provides millions of dollars worth of other transportation related construction projects around Northern California.
