Construction workers are under attack: Help fight back!
Operating Engineers’ wages and working conditions are under attack, as anti-worker politicians go after the nation’s prevailing-wage law.
Recently, representatives in Arizona, Georgia and Iowa offered amendments to repeal Davis-Bacon prevailing wages from legislation. As you already know, prevailing wages are required by law on all projects that use federal support, ensuring that contractors compete for public-works jobs on a level-playing field with union contractors.
This is happening outside of Local 3’s jurisdiction, but as International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) General President Vincent Giblin said: “We must engage every IUOE member to advocate for good-paying jobs.”
That includes you! As a member of the IUOE, you have a chance to voice your support for protecting all construction workers’ living standards. Click here to send your representatives an e-mail on this fundamental issue of fairness. We don’t want these prevailing-wage attacks to spread any more.
